Björneborg Steel to deliver key components to Stargate project
OpenAI announced its Stargate project in January 2025 as a $500 billion project to build the most advanced AI infrastructure ever created. The project plans to build multiple hyperscale data centers across the United States over a four-year period to support AI development in medical diagnostics, climate forecasting, and other applications.

The enormous scale of the project requires sustainable energy solutions due to its energy needs to power and cool the data centers. Björneborg’s customer has developed an efficient solution for the power supply together with NVIDIA and OpenAI, and Björneborg will supply forged key components for these generators.
– It is of course very gratifying to win such a prestigious order and to be able to deliver products to such high-tech projects. It shows Björneborg’s quality, delivery ability, and competitiveness. It also shows that the new technology is highly dependent on high-quality traditional products, says Håkan Dedorsson, CEO of Björneborg Steel.
The order contributes to a good workload, and the generator shafts will be delivered successively during 2026 and Q1 2027 with existing staff.
