We have extensive experience in supplying propulsion shafts for navy vessels, using both standard shaft materials and advanced high-strength or ice-class alloys. To meet strict defense timelines, we mostly deliver these components in finish-machined condition—fully prepared with center boring, liners, and weld cladding or cladding corrosion protection.

Beyond maritime shaft lines, Björneborg Steel is a major supplier of gun barrels and forged material for firing mechanisms. Every step of our metallurgical production is designed to handle high-stress components for mobile and stationary artillery defense systems. Defense procurement leaves zero room for structural compromise or supply chain vulnerability. Our entire manufacturing sequence—from our independent scrap-metal melt shop in Sweden to final precision machining—operates under an integrated management system built for high-tier military standards. We maintain full traceability for all forged steel components, working in accordance with NATO AQAP (Allied Quality Assurance Publications) standards, including AQAP 2110 requirements, to streamline the documentation process for naval and military defense auditors.

Our internal testing infrastructure provides complete verification of material structural integrity. Every batch of high-strength or ice-class steel undergoes rigorous non-destructive testing (NDT), including visual, magnetic particle, and ultrasonic inspection protocols. These tests guarantee that internal defects are eliminated before any material enters our machining halls, confirming that the mechanical properties meet the ultra-tight tolerances required by modern artillery systems and marine defense architecture.

By maintaining all core processes—melting, open-die free-form forging, heat treatment, testing, and finish machining—on a single, highly secure industrial site, we minimize logistical risks and preserve strict data confidentiality.
